Union of Municipalities of THRACE, by representing the member municipalities both in the country and abroad, is monitoring the international agenda on local governments and guides its member municipalities. It is conducting works with the purposes of enabling sharing the experiences and knowledge regarding the good practices around the globe, to support municipalities which have been affected by natural and social events and to promote solidarity.
In this regard, our union;
- Conducts the necessary activities and works in order to ensure the international representation of the municipalities.
- Conducts necessary notifications and organizations with the purpose of ensuring the participation of the municipalities and the union to the meetings, conferences and similar events held by international local government agencies and foreign countries.
- It is aspiring to support, disseminate the domestic cooperation between municipalities and contribute to the development of suitable sources.
- By cooperating with the European Union and other agencies which provide international funds, conducts joint works.
Union of Municipalities of Thrace which has cooperation protocols with Union of Municipalities of Turkey, Union of Municipalities of Marmara and other regional unions, agencies and institutions, has also dual and triple cooperation protocols with Union of Municipalities of Ram Thrace Region of Bulgaria and Union of Polis Municipalities of the Thrace Region in Greece
Union of Municipalities of Thrace, is a local administration union which cooperates with municipalities and regional networks of the countries which are parties to the Contract of Council of Europe.
